Where and When
The Cades Cove Full Moon Walk will begin at the Orientation Shelter at the entrance to the Cades Cove Loop Road on May 15, 2014. The hike will start at 8:00 p.m. and finish around 10:00 p.m.
If there is poor weather, the Moon Walk will be cancelled, so be sure to keep an eye on the local forecast. Kids age 13 and younger participating in the hike need to be accompanied by an adult.
What to Expect
The Full Moon Walk is an easy two mile hike led by some of the most knowledgeable guides in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You can expect to see gorgeous moonlit mountain views as you walk the trails and to encounter diverse wildlife that you wouldn’t usually see during the day.
As with any hike, it’s important to come prepared for this free tour of Cades Cove. Comfortable shoes, flashlights, and water bottles are all necessary for the walk. We also recommend dressing in layers, because the Smokies can get a bit chillier at night.
