Gatlinburg Farmers Market Kicks Off 2014 Season This May

Spring is finally here, and that means the Gatlinburg Farmers Market is ready to reopen for 2014! The Farmers Market is an incredible resource for vacationers looking for fresh, locally grown food to enjoy during their time in the Smokies. This May, the Farmers Market is celebrating the start of the season with an opening day celebration. Featuring free entertainment, giveaways, and plenty of delicious food, this is one event in Gatlinburg you do not want to miss.

Where and When
The Gatlinburg Farmers Market is moving to a brand new location this year. The market will now be held in the Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community at the Covered Bridge, located at 849 Glades Road in Gatlinburg.
The opening day festivities will take place on Saturday May 17th. If you can’t make it to this season’s kick-off, don’t worry! The Gatlinburg Farmers Market will continue to run every Saturday morning from 8 – 11:30 a.m. until September 13th.
What to Expect
Opening day at the Farmers Market will have something for every member of your family! All of the best local vendors will be back with their fantastic selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, flowers, honey, coffee, soaps, and more.
Your little ones will love the Kids’ Area, where author Mary Phillips will read a few of her popular children’s books. Kids will also have the chance to get their faces painted and enjoy some delicious homemade ice cream from Cruze Farm.
Is there a gardener in your family? The market’s Master Gardener will be on hand to answer any and all questions about his favorite pastime. If you want to know about your garden’s soil quality, be sure to ask the Master Gardener for one of his soil testing kits!
Throughout the celebration, guests will enjoy toe-tapping bluegrass music from talented local musician Barry Bianchi. You’ll also have the chance to win a basket full of Farmers Market goodies when you enter the opening day raffle!
