Taking a vacation with your relatives or friends is one of the best ways to experience the Smoky Mountains! To help you make the most of your trip, Alpine Chalet Rentals has put together six tips for an amazing multi-family vacation in a 5 bedroom Gatlinburg cabin.
1. Make the game rooms a kid’s play area.
Many of our cabins come equipped with awesome game rooms featuring pool tables, cable TV, air hockey, and arcade games. Use this space to create a kid-friendly zone where all the families’ young ones can spend time together. When the children have their own space, both kids and parents will be happy.

2. Take advantage of the large kitchen.
When you take a multi-family vacation, there will be lots of meals and snacks to prepare. Take advantage of your cabin’s large fully furnished kitchen, and include everyone in the culinary process. Your group can share duties such as cooking and cleaning and make mealtime fun, instead of a chore.
3. Use the deck as a hang-out.
Our covered decks not only provide gorgeous views of the Smoky Mountains, but also great amenities, such as a hot tub, charcoal grill, and plenty of furniture. This all makes for an ideal get together spot for everyone to relax as a group.
4. Divide up the bathrooms in advance.
When multiple families are staying in a 5 bedroom Gatlinburg cabin, it is important to talk about any bathroom preferences. To avoid conflict at baby’s special bath time or Grandma’s shower time, be sure to discuss these specifics with anyone you may be sharing a bathroom with. Many of our 5 bedroom cabins have 5 and ½ or 6 and ½ bathrooms, so there shouldn’t be any long lines in the morning!
5. Plan your day in an area with lots of options.
Centering your activities around a general area can ensure that everyone in your party has a good time. For example, when you spend the day in downtown Gatlinburg, everyone can divide into smaller groups and pursue the activities they’re interested in, such as shopping or visiting the arcade. Dollywood is another great place for groups, as there are a ton of different rides, restaurants, and shows to choose from.
6. Have a meeting place.
When groups are doing different activities, make sure you have a designated meeting spot. The Gatlinburg Space Needle is a great choice if you’re in downtown Gatlinburg, as you can see the 407 foot tall tower from anywhere in the area!
