Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced square dancer, a youngster or a senior, the 2014 Gatlinburg Square Dance Convention promises a fun time for all. With five halls of continuous day and evening dancing, live music, and even a fashion show, there will be something for everyone at this awesome event. Groups and families with kids are welcome! Where and When
The Gatlinburg Square Dance Convention will be held July 31, August 1 and August 2 at the W. L. Mills Conference Center. The Conference Center is attached to the Gatlinburg Convention Center, located at 234 Historic Nature Trail. Parking is free at the Reagan Drive city parking lot and trolley service is available to and from many areas in Gatlinburg.
The trail-in dance will be held on Thursday evening from 8:00 to 11:00 pm. In honor of the 40th annual convention, Thursday is “40 and Fabulous” T-shirt night, available in advance for $12 each.
The fun continues on Friday from noon until 11 pm and on Saturday from 10 am to 11 pm. Square dance attire is requested after 7 pm.
Advance tickets are $35 for the entire weekend or are available at the door ($15 Friday and $25 Saturday). Kids under 18 dance for free! To register in advance visit the official Tennessee Square Dance website.
What to Expect at the Convention
The 40th annual Tennessee Square Dance Convention will feature continuous dancing in five air conditioned halls with all wood floors. More than 60 callers, cuers and line instructors will be on hand, with a live band performing Friday and Saturday evenings. Mainstream and plus calling, line dancing, an advanced dancers’ hall and workshops will be available. There will be singles’ events, a fashion show, a sewing clinic, a used clothing sale, and plenty of vendors. Don’t forget to bring your cowboy boots!
